Riverside's Mayor Endorses Rusty as Successor
In what has been called the biggest endorsement of the campaign, Rusty Bailey's campaign announced today the endorsement by Riverside's 5-term Mayor Ron
Loveridge. His announcement, released today to the Press Enterprise, highlights the Mayor's belief in Rusty as a "collaborator" and someone who can lead effectively.
From his two-page letter announcing his endorsement:
"While undoubtedly a “nice guy,” Rusty Bailey also brings a tough, searching emphasis on identifying problems and seeking solutions. He understands complexity and strategy. And perhaps most important, he devotes himself to finding answers to difficult public policy questions."
Mayor Loveridge also highlights Rusty's ability to focus on the public good, not private entities or narrow special interests. He highlights Rusty's integrity:
It is important for the Mayor to have a public rather than a private outlook, to pursue the public interest, not private gain. (How many times has Rusty Bailey had to refrain from Council votes because of conflicts of interest? The answer is “Never.”) The best mayors are pragmatic in dealing with city problems. Rusty Bailey has the highest possible commitment to public service, reinforced by his years at West Point. Values are important in being mayor. He is not wedded to any special interests."
